This is a logarithmic curve appropriate for such phenomena as nuclear decay, bacterial growth, and pandemics. The death toll is over 500K in Brazil. It's hardly surprising that the bulk of deaths is in the favelas, the giant slums that typically have very poor water supply that makes appropriate sanitation difficult at best. Indigenous people are also getting hurt badly, and not only by the acceleration of deforestation (a Bolsonaro practice -- damn the environment, full profits ahead!) But if you are Bolsonaro, poor and indigenous people who were never going to vote for you anyway can go.... you know where.
